      Senior donates books to charity for his birthday

      Sport Management student Jared Cross, ’20, prefers to use his birthday as an opportunity to give rather than to receive. Through his annual Growing to New Heights Used Book Drive, he collects used books to donate to various charities.

      Student Emergency Fund garners new fundraising interest according to Giving Tuesday results

      Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. A generous donor challenged Flagler College to secure donations from 175 people in one day. Achieving this goal allowed Office of Institutional Advancement staff to unlock a special $5,000 grant for the Flagler Fund.

      Women’s soccer team makes history despite final four loss

      Dec 13
      Flagler Women’s soccer reached the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament national final four this December, before falling to Western Washington University. The only other Flagler athletics team to go this far in the postseason, in the NCAA Division II era, was the volleyball team in 2009 who also advanced to the final four.

      Flagler College-Tallahassee Commencement to be held Dec. 15 at Tallahassee Community College

      On Sunday, Dec. 15, Flagler College-Tallahassee will hold their 2019 Fall Commencement at Turner Auditorium on the campus of Tallahassee Community College campus. A total of 78 students will receive bachelor degrees in one of the College’s following programs: Accounting, Business, Elementary Education, and Strategic Communication.

      Flagler College’s regional accreditation is reaffirmed

      After more than a year of planning, research and work, Flagler College had its accreditation reaffirmed with no recommendations for improvement by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC) at their 2019 Annual Meeting in Houston, Texas this week.

      The Flagler College Women of Vision Advisory Board welcomed two new members in November. Nancy Birchall and Samara Gluck were elected by majority vote of the 21-person board.

      Public invited to B.F.A. and B.A. student portfolio exhibition at Crisp-Ellert Art Museum

      The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum and Flagler College are pleased to present the biannual exhibition of work by graduating B.F.A. and B.A. candidates in the Department of Visual Art. The exhibition will open with an artists’ reception on Thursday, Dec. 12 from 5 until 8 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Additionally, the work will also be on view on Friday, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. This exhibition is free and open to the public.

      Community Open House puts historic Dining Room at front and center

      On Sunday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Flagler College is hosting a Community Open House to view the renovated serving and kitchen area in the Historic Ponce de Leon Dining Room, updates that were completed this summer. This event is free and open to the public.

      Expanded tour schedule for holiday season at Flagler’s Legacy

      Just in time for the holidays, historical tours of Flagler College’s Hotel Ponce de Leon will begin to run on the hour, every hour, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Monday, Dec. 16. The expanded tour schedule will last until Dec. 31.

      The Department of Visual Art at Flagler College, and the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum will host the second annual Zine and Print Fest on Friday, Dec. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m., in conjunction with First Friday Art Walk. Otis Sanders will make a special musical appearance from 6 to 6:30 p.m. and Dorian Lopez, who entertains using the name Papi Disco, will be spinning tunes.

      Flagler commencement to be held Dec. 14

      On Saturday, Dec. 14, Flagler College will hold fall commencement exercises for graduating seniors. Approximately 136 students will receive diplomas at the Flagler College Gymnasium.

      Flagler professor discovers unknown Spanish-Timucua book while on sabbatical

      Timothy J. Johnson, Craig and Audrey Thorn Distinguished Professor of Religion at Flagler College, recently discovered a Spanish-Timucua book by the Franciscan Friar Francisco Pareja. The book, previously unknown to scholars, was published in Mexico in 1628.
